TNDC WELCOMES TAYLOR SMITH AS PRE-CONSTRUCTION / ESTIMATING MANAGER

TNDC is pleased to welcome Taylor Smith as a Pre-Construction/Estimating Manager, a newly created position that will play an instrumental role in TNDC’s strategic operations. Reporting to TNDC’s VP of Construction, Taylor is responsible for assessing the cost of construction projects, factoring in material, labour resources and equipment requirements, and working closely with all levels of TNDC’s management, clients and industry contacts. He will develop and implement procedures, standards, rules and regulations, as well as negotiate with suppliers and obtain quotes from subcontractors to compile accurate, comprehensive bid proposals.

Pre-construction and estimating are at the core of ensuring a construction project is built on time, within budget and with minimal unexpected issues. This position is critical to support TNDC’s priority of executing best-in-class solutions that make us a preferred choice to work with Tier 1 mining companies. It is also essential to drive TNDC’s strategy for growth and profitability, supporting plans in the existing sector and new diversification opportunities.

An enterprising leader with strong business acumen, integrity, and a commitment to deliver exceptional strategic results, Taylor has diverse experience working on projects across sectors. His knowledge spans general management, project management, operations, pre-construction, estimating, business development, quality assurance/control, health, safety and environment management, negotiations, marketing, labour relations, and people and culture.

Before joining TNDC, Taylor was Project Manager with Pitt Meadows Plumbing & Mechanical Systems for the Oakridge Energy District Energy System project. He has also held industrial Manager, Business Services and Continuous Quality Improvement Lead positions with Carlson Construction Group. In addition, Taylor held Project Manager, Estimator and Project Coordinator roles on almost two dozen resource and industrial projects with Brymark Installations Group.

Taylor holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, Business Administration Associate Certificate from British Columbia Institute of Technology and is completing the Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (GDBA) program at Simon Fraser University working towards an MBA. He has completed the Engineering Transition Program at Capilano University as well as several training and professional development courses in leadership, health and safety, and diversity, equity and inclusion.
