Description:

TNDC is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and strategic Finance Director to join our fast-paced and evolving team. TNDC’s Finance Director will work proactively with the CEO, senior management, company personnel, clients, partners, and other stakeholders in the best interests of the organization. The successful applicant will have a lead role in ensuring the financial well-being of the organization by providing financial projections, overseeing accounting and finance services, and preparing growth plans.

Responsibilities include budgeting, reporting, financial analysis, leasing, debt management, cash management, updating corporate filings, ensuring full compliance of accounting and finance regulatory requirements, implementation, and management of best practices. Creation and implementation of formal financial procedures and processes. Creation of an internal audit program. Succession planning and training of TNDC employees is an important function of this position.

The Finance Director will drive operational and administrative improvements and ensure efficient and timely management of important accounting functions such as invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll. A background in civil construction, mining, infrastructure, earthworks, and telecommunications will be well regarded.

Willingness to relocate to Dease Lake, BC is preferred; however, for the right candidate, the position can be based in another location, provided that scheduled trips to TNDC office in Dease Lake and other site locations are scheduled to suit operational requirements.

Qualifications and experience

Reporting to the CEO or designate, qualifications and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation - CPA is preferred. BA, B. Com., or other finance degree with relevant experience may be considered
  • Financial Planning and Strategy, Managing Profitability, Strategic Planning, Vision, Quality Management, Implementing Process Improvement, Forecasting, Corporate Finance, Developing and Tracking Budgets, Financial Skills, Dealing with Complexity, Financing/Leasing, Debt Management, Cash Management
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written), with proven ability to collaborate with team members in a multi-disciplined environment
  • Strong and verifiable supervisory skills – a successful track record in leading, directing, and motivating others

Communications Director

Description:

The Communications Director will oversee the communications department and manage all internal and external communication efforts which will include the development and deployment of all communication across multimedia channels (newsletters, social media, website and more).

The Communication Director will develop the Strategic Communication Plan and oversees its implementation as required. The Director will be required to work collaboratively with staff and leadership, as well as external partners and stakeholders, overseeing key communications activities for TNDC as well as managing the departments mandate and budget, with regular progress reports to the CEO.

Responsibilities include developing and implementing the communication strategy, that aligns with the strategic plan requirements for informing and engaging staff and other stakeholders and well as preparing growth plans.

Qualifications and experience

Reporting to the CEO or designate, qualifications and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • degree or diploma in communications, journalism, public relations, media studies, marketing, or a related field
  • minimum 5 years’ related work experience in communications, public relations, media relations, or marketing
  • demonstrates leadership in a project-based environment and is able to develop, manage, and execute effective plans, strategies, projects, and campaigns

Camp Services - Various Positions

Description:

TNDC in partnership with Sodexo is recruiting for personnel at our Eskay Creek Mine and Newcrest Red Chris Mine jobsites located in northwestern BC.

We are seeking applicants for the following positions:

  • Chefs

Successful applicants will be required to work and stay in a remote camp setting on a 14-day on and 14-day off rotation and scheduled shifts are 10 hours in duration. Free bus transportation is available from Terrace and Kitwanga, BC. Wages start at $18.62 per hour (depending on the position) and overtime is paid in accordance with the BC Employment Standards Act

Candidates must be physically fit to meet work demands. This may include:

  • standing, walking, kneeling, or crouching for extended periods of times
  • performing tasks that involve repetitive movements of arms, wrists, and hands
  • ability to maintain high levels of performance throughout duration of shift
  • able to lift/move up to 50 pounds throughout a work shift

HSE Superintendent

Description:

Reporting to the HSE Director with a dual reporting line to the TNDC Project Managers, the post holder is the HSE community and sustainability lead on site for TNDC and responsible for supervising the onsite HSE Coordinators. The role requires a positive interface with the client (Newcrest Red Chris Mining) as well as other TNDC stakeholders and sub-contractors. Providing support on the development and management of the project HSE programs to ensure operational compliance to safety standards, and risk mitigation to promote an engaged safety-focused culture. Also responsible for planning, managing, documenting, and reporting on all HSE and related activities, training, procedures, policies, commitments, incidents, and statistics for the site.

The work is in a remote camp setting and shift rotation is 14 days on and 14 days off (may be subject to change) due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. The shifts are typically 12 hours in duration, however, infrequently may be required to work out of the norm to accommodate operational requirements.

The successful candidate will lead by example and foster a proactive, safe culture based on the common values of health, safety, environment, community, and sustainability. By taking a hands-on approach in mentoring, coaching, and promoting a positive reporting culture, the successful candidate is required to always function as an active participant on the jobsite.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct operational risk assessments/hazard assessments, develop controls to manage risks, build the positive safety culture aligned with our aspirations of Zero Harm and those of the client and manage associated risks in the workplace using the hierarchy of control and sound industrial hygiene practices
  • Work directly with the client in establishing a working group to align HSE policies, procedures, reporting, and initiatives, and ensure proper distribution of all documentation to advisory and management committees as required
  • Document all workplace incidents and investigations, and ensure that records are up to date and sharing in lessons learned
  • Instrumental in the migration of the HSE processes into a digital platform and aid in the digital transformation process
  • Compile and submit daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual HSE reports, report leading and lagging indicators of HSE activities
  • Ensure alignment between TNDC and Newcrest HSE management programs, objectives, and specific initiatives

Key Competencies, knowledge & experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher-level diploma in a relevant discipline is desirable with minimum of 5 years’ experience in mineral exploration, drill programs, and working in remote high-altitude helicopter-supported environments
  • Experience with design and implementation of health and safety programs and safe systems of work
  • Experience with reporting leading and lagging indicators of HSE activities/ conditions/incidents using appropriate systems and tools such as SafetyAdmin, DATs, SharePoint, or others
  • Understand the regulatory framework BC as it relates to HSE at exploration and mine sites and in the workplace
  • Ability to analyze incidents using recognized methods like ICAM or TapRoot to understand and recommend corrective actions as well as improvements to health and safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to embrace a full integrated team approach and be willing to be part of the solution to achieve safe productivity

Shuttle Driver

Description:

TNDC Shuttle Drivers are responsible for safely transporting our clients’ employees, contractors, and guests within Tahltan territory. The shuttle drivers must have good communication skills both oral and written to interact with fellow drivers, maintenance team, operations team and passengers. The shuttle driver will be required to pick up shuttle vehicles from the TNDC office in Dease Lake.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the supervisor, or designate, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • driving safely, responsibly and being prepared for all road conditions
  • picking up and dropping off our clients’ employees, contractors and guests
  • assisting with loading and unloading gear / luggage
  • conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • ensuring adequate fluid levels and safe operation of vehicle
  • communicating via two-way radio systems
  • completing and submitting drivers log books as required
  • reporting any delays, mechanical problems and all accidents
  • maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle at all times
  • attending required safety meetings and other meetings as requested
  • other duties as required

Qualifications

  • valid Class 4, 2 or 1 drivers license and knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of this licensee level
  • valid Occupational First Aid, WHMIS and TDG Certification required
  • familiar with remote mine/camp road protocol
  • basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance
  • knowledge, understanding and practice safe work practices
  • must be able to work with minimal supervision for extended periods of time
  • strong oral and written communication skills
  • a team player that works well with others
