Responsibilities
- Answering to the Maintenance Superintendent and Foreman you will be required to keep equipment in good operating condition.
- Conduct daily pre-trip/walk-around safety inspections and Field Level Hazard Assessments for all activities.
- Submit Daily Log of completed work.
- Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently; and be open to run multiple pieces of equipment during your rotation, if required for task related purposes (training will be provided when necessary).
- Follow all site, company and client specific safety protocols, policies, and procedures. Incorporate HS&E concepts into work activities and demonstrate concern for the health & safety of others (co-workers, clients, and sub trades).
Qualifications and experience
- Previous experience with Fuel & Lube, Excavator, Dozers, Loaders and Rock Trucks in a mining, and/or industrial setting is required.
- Previous experience with rotational schedules and remote camp life is an asset.
- Capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment with good safety awareness.
- Experience with radio communications and protocols.

HSE Coordinator

Description:
The HSE Coordinator role is to work in cooperation with the project management team to achieve safety-related goals and objectives and ensure a safe working environment. Act as a coach / mentor / facilitator to assist management in fulfilling their occupational health and safety related responsibilities. Assist with the development and implementation of the project site safety plan. Conduct inspections, incident investigations, and ensure corrective actions are completed.
The work is in a remote camp setting and shift rotation is 14 days on and 14 days off. The normal shifts are 12 hours. The successful candidate will be a key player in a highly progressive and motivated team who will lead by example, possess a positive attitude and be a good ambassador for TNDC.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the HSE Superintendent or designate, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- liaise with Project Manager daily to foster, promote and develop a positive and proactive safety culture
- monitor and enforce adherence to company HSE Management System by all employees as well as subcontractors
- provide suitable safety-related training as required
- maintain a high level of safety awareness and performance at all work locations
- investigate all incidents, hazard observations and near misses
- liaise with HR and Project Management with the early Return-to-Work Program when required
- assist in the ongoing development and review of risk assessments (JHA) and safe working practices
- facilitate the provision and maintenance of records in relation to all Project HSE training including toolbox talks, orientations, and weekly Safety Meetings

Community Capacity Development Officer

Reporting to the Vice President of People and Corporate Culture, the Community Capacity Development Officer is responsible for helping to grow employee capacity within TNDC, while also building stronger relationships with the Tahltan Central Government (TCG) and other community partners to help recruit and retain Tahltans at TNDC. Work is carried out in both an office and field environment in Tahltan Territory, with some travel required.
Responsibilities
A. Career Pathing:
- Working with other HR team members, develop career paths and development plans for all current TNDC staff.
- Where appropriate, expand use of TCG’s OnTrack software program to capture TNDC staff certification, training documentation and establish career goals.
B. Community Development:
- Partner with TCG for community-based programming that relates directly to TNDC’s current and future workforce requirements.
- Participate in relevant Career Fairs within the region that relate directly to TNDC’s current and future workforce requirements.
- Participate in relevant High School outreach programs and opportunities as they relate directly to TNDC’s current and future workforce requirements.
- Act as the face of TNDC within the community for the HR team.
- Working with TNDC, its Business Partners and industry where appropriate (such as the HEO program where we partnered with multiple stakeholders including industry).
C. Training and Development:
- Identify external funding opportunities to support training and development requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

HEO Foreman / Supervisor

TNDC is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of HEO Foreman / Supervisor at one or more of our job sites in northern British Columbia. The work is to provide effective planning and leadership to ensure efficient and productive operations within the fleet. Shift rotation is dependent on the project needs, working 12 hours per day. The successful candidate will be a key player in a highly progressive and motivated team.
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain a safe workplace program and ensure that safety is the highest priority.
- Effectively lead teams to achieve departmental goals on a daily, weekly, seasonal and long-term basis. Teams will include equipment operators, heavy equipment operators and labourers.
- Coordinate with other Foremen and management to ensure department-wide goals and daily operations are met. Ensure department-wide resources are used efficiently.
- Work with the Supervisor(s) and other Fleet Operations Foremen to establish daily, weekly and seasonal schedules that consider overall priorities, current equipment availability, and current staffing levels and abilities. Modify and adjust these schedules as needed to stay current and accurate.
- Ensure all team members are performing daily equipment checks. Make sure all safety and maintenance issues are reported.
- Safely and proficiently operate and/or oversee the operation of light vehicles such as pickups and heavy equipment such as bulldozers, loaders, excavators, graders and backhoes.
- Complete daily work requests and assignments in a safe and timely manner.
- Attend meetings (Safety Toolbox, Management, Client, etc.)
- Ensure all team members properly complete timecards.
- Complete team member performance evaluations in accordance with established HR procedures.
- Train subordinate employees on performance, documentation and activities that affect the achievement Operations Division metrics.
- Provide timely and accurate/factual data related to all metrics.
- Report and document incidents in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Must have a shifter’s ticket.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a heavy equipment operator (such as those outlined above).
- Must possess a valid ground disturbance ticket.
- At least six months of prior supervisory/leadership experience is required.
- Driver’s abstract is required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills with MS Word, Excel and scheduling programs.

A. IT Strategy, Planning and Project Management

Working Conditions
Work is primarily carried out in an office environment; however, a portion of the time is working out at various remote sites, which may be a mixture of indoors and outdoors. The CFO is available to provide direction and to resolve any conflicts the IT Manager may encounter.

Heavy Duty Mechanic – Dease Lake

TNDC is seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our dynamic team. This position is located at the Dease Lake shop within the TNDC Mechanical division. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with the expectation there will be overtime and on-call requirements.
TNDC’s mechanical division is responsible for the preventative maintenance and major repairs to mobile (heavy and light duty), auxiliary and stationary mining equipment, while continuously aligning daily functions. In addition, this position is responsible for the Airport Services equipment and all field based mechanical needs within the Telegraph Creek, Iskut and Dease Lake area. The successful candidate must be committed to safe working practices.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Fleet Manager with a dual reporting line to the site supervisor or designate, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- inspecting equipment, troubleshooting, and planning sequence of repair operations
- investigating deficiencies and equipment malfunctions
- following maintenance procedures to ensure all equipment meets specifications
- cleaning, lubricating, and performing other routine maintenance work on equipment

Health & Safety Administrator - remote site

Description:
Tahltan Nation Development Corporation (TNDC) is hiring a Health & Safety Administrator. A Health & Safety Administrator will provide administrative support to our HSE Coordinators and site HSE Superintendent with data entry, organization, maintenance of safety records and compiling safety data for various reports. The work is at a remote location in a camp setting on a 2 week on/2 week off rotation, working 12-hour shifts.
The successful candidate will be a key player in a highly progressive and motivated team who will possess a positive attitude, make safety a priority and be a good ambassador for TNDC.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the site HSE Superintendent or designate, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- perform data entry and assist in the compilation of data for various reports.
- locating digital and hard copy filed materials upon request.
- maintaining a high level of confidentiality in all interactions.
- organize, maintain, digitize and coordinate records and files.
- present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with all stakeholders.
- assist with administrative tasks as required by the Safety Coordinators and Leadership.
- perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and experience
- minimum 2+ years’ experience in an administrative role, preferably in the construction industry.
- creation and documentation of Control Systems.
- Health and Safety Administration (HSA) designation is preferred but not required.
- elevated analytical skills, high level of integrity and a solid work ethic.
- excellent computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- strong organizational skills, multi-tasking ability and detail oriented.
- ability to work in a team environment or independently and be self motivated.
- ability to meet tight deadlines and/or urgent requests.
- professional and direct communication in both written and oral form.
- excels operating in a fast-paced team environment.
- a desire to deliver quality service and to work to high standards.
