Mine Site - Maintenance Supervisor

Description:

TNDC is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Mine Site - Maintenance Supervisor at our Red Chris mine job site in northern British Columbia, approximately 100 kilometers south of Dease Lake. The work is in a remote camp setting and shift rotation is 14 days on and 14 days off, working 12-hours per day.

The successful candidate will be a key player in a highly progressive and motivated team who will lead by example, possess a positive attitude and be a good ambassador for TNDC and the maintenance department.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the site supervisor or designate, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • supervising maintenance staff to ensure TNDC’s equipment and light vehicles are maintained and repaired in a safe, effective and efficient manner
  • conducting daily toolbox meetings, correcting any deficiencies as soon as possible
  • supervising, coordinating and scheduling the activities of the crew to effectively optimize the utilization of resources, manpower, tools, equipment and parts towards the goal of optimum equipment availability
  • securing the highest availability of equipment and minimize equipment down time
  • ensuring that parts are ordered and monitored for down equipment
  • ensuring that the PM and work schedule is maintained according to plan and communicating otherwise

Qualifications and experience

  • Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic Interprovincial Red Seal Certification
  • minimum of 3 years of supervisory and hands-on experience in repairs / servicing in a similar environment
  • excellent written and oral communication skills and able to use diagnostics
  • knowledge, understand and practice safe work practices
  • strong administrative and computer (MS Office applications) preferred
  • ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities

The work is in a remote camp setting and shift rotation is 14 days on and 14 days off, working 12-hours per day.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the site maintenance supervisor or designate, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • receiving, storing and shipping of merchandise
  • managing inventory by ensuring computer entries are up to date for equipment parts, field work parts (equipment and personnel), janitorial supplies, shop consumables, and other office and sundry supplies
  • shipping and receiving all packages (including ensuring appropriate labelling and paperwork is complete), loading and unloading freight, distributing freight, ensuring all incoming supplies are received
  • stocking shelves and maintaining a clear and effective shelving system
  • ensuring accurate data entry and maintaining databases in computerized program
  • purchasing of all parts for various departments, including shop, administration and field work
  • conducting part searches and manage quotations as required

Qualifications and experience

  • Journeyman Parts person / Warehouse person preferred
  • minimum of 3 years of work experience in parts, inventory and purchasing
  • excellent written and oral communication skills with attention to detail
  • knowledge, understand and practice safe work practices
  • strong administrative and computer (MS Office) skills preferred
  • knowledge and experience working with computerized accounting programs preferred
  • self-motivated, team-player and good interpersonal skills

This position is responsible for performing custodial duties in order to ensure that the TNDC administration building and warehouse is maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner. The successful applicant must have personal and professional integrity, must be honest, trustworthy and respectful while being able to demonstrate sound work ethics.

Responsibilities

  • clean administration building and warehouse to ensure it is maintained in a safe and healthy manner
  • complete cleaning duty checklists as requested
  • maintain cleaning equipment, materials and supplies in a safe and orderly manner to ensure the safety of staff and the public
  • perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

  • formal education is not required; however, preference will be given to applicants with a high school diploma or GED
  • related custodian / janitorial experience is preferred
  • knowledge of cleaning procedures, chemicals, products and equipment
  • ability to use tools and equipment and to perform the physical aspect of the job
  • knowledge and understanding of safe work practices including WHMIS
  • ability to work without supervision and follow standard procedures, and compliance with all health and safety standards
  • ability to accept constructive criticism

  • monitoring and documenting of ongoing construction activities, quantities and processes to ensure milestones are met
  • providing input to produce daily, weekly and monthly production reporting and planning
  • ensuring all QA/QC and geotechnical specifications are maintained and documented
  • assist with scheduling, modeling, preparing and maintaining project file systems
  • aid in the preparation of the daily change order system and RFI process
  • analyze all daily construction activities to coordinate short, and long-term construction plans with the Project Manager

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • minimum of 5 years’ experience in mining; preference is given to experience with tailings dam construction and or underground mining
  • Professional Engineering designation in British Columbia is an asset
  • excellent written and oral communication skills with attention to detail
  • strong computer skills with MS Word, Excel and scheduling programs
  • team player that works well with others
  • experience working in a remote mining setting is preferred

Description:

TNDC is recruiting for a Fuel & Lube Truck Operator for work at our Newcrest Red Chris Mine jobsite, who will be required to work and stay in camp during their shift. Shift rotation will be 14 days on and 14 days off, working 10-12 hours per shift.

Responsibilities will include and are not limited to operation of a fuel & lube truck, inspection and maintenance of the equipment, components and systems that are integral to the operations mining activities and facilities. Servicing of large mobile equipment also required.

Skills & Experience

  • 3-5 years related work experience with an excellent safety record
  • experience in mining operations is considered an asset
  • experience working around heavy equipment
  • strong oral and written communication skills
  • ability to work with minimal supervision
  • ability to exercise initiative and good judgement

  • servicing attachments and working tools as required
  • ensuring proper reporting, documentation and clear lines of communication with site supervisors

HSE Coordinator

Position: HSE Coordinator
Supervisor: HSE Manager
Location: Remote job site; camp setting
Status: 14-days on / 14-days off

Reporting to the HSE Manager, the HSE Coordinator role is to work in cooperation with project management to achieve safety related goals and objectives and ensure a safe working environment. Act as a coach/mentor/facilitator to assist management in fulfilling their safety related responsibilities. Assist with the development and implement of the project safety plan. Conduct inspections and incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are completed.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with Project Manager daily to foster, promote and develop a positive safety culture
  • Monitor and enforce safety adherence to company HSE Management System by all employees as well as subcontractors
  • Provide safety training as required
  • Maintain a high level of safety awareness and performance at work sites
  • Investigate all incidents and near misses
  • Liaise with HR and Project Management with the Return to Work Program when required
  • Assist in the ongoing development and review of risk assessments (JHA) and safe working practices
  • Facilitate the provision of and maintenance of records in relation to all Project HSE training including toolbox talks, orientations and weekly Safety Meetings
  • Complete all daily, weekly HSE documentation/record keeping requirements as directed within the HSE Management system, including maintaining computerized program
  • Other related duties as required

 Qualifications

  • Minimum of NCSO and OHS Certificate or equivalent education and experience
  • 3+ years progressive safety experience in Construction preferably heavy civil or mining projects
  • Knowledge of BC Health and Safety legislation, BC Mines Act / Health, Safety and Reclamation Code
  • Work respectfully and cooperatively with others, establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external partners
  • Superior leadership, communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with a wide range of individuals
  • Requires effective written and oral communication skills
