Director, Partnership and Business Development

Description:

The Director, Partnership and Business Development is responsible for increasing Tahltan Nation Development Corporation (TNDC) revenues by identifying, establishing, and growing business partnerships between TNDC and other organizations.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with a dotted line to the VP of Construction, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

A.   Opportunity Identification

  • Develop and maintain strong awareness of the geographic and industry trends that TNDC can maximize
  • Research and identify new market and/or new partnership opportunities

B.   Partnership Establishment

  • Develop the business case for a new market expansion and/or new partnership establishment
  • Identify potential partners that align with TNDC’s values and strategic objectives
  • Build relationships with potential partners to establish an appropriate business structure
  • Work with the CEO, VP Construction and Senior leadership team, negotiate a final agreement that meets all needs

C.   Partnership Management

  • Manage key partner relationships and work to build new ones
  • Provide relevant and timely updates on the partnerships for the CEO and the Board of Directors

D.   Leadership

  • Oversee operational aspects of partnership agreements
  • Provide daily direction to the team, with a focus on building knowledge and skills
  • Ensure that all positions are staffed with qualified employees, with the consideration for the development of Tahltan Nation members in accordance with TNDC’s hiring preference
  • Ensure the team is cross trained to create redundancies and minimize operational risks
  • Adhere to TNDC’s HR Manual when recruiting, supervising, evaluating and performance managing staff
  • Provide coaching and feedback to the team on a frequent basis to help them grow and take on additional projects

E.  Special Projects

  • Work with the VP Construction on special projects as required

F.   Other related duties as required by the organization

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or a related field preferred
  • proven experience in a managerial role with sales, marketing or partnership responsibilities is required
  • relevant traditional knowledge and work experience will be accepted in lieu of post-secondary education

Health & Safety Administrator - remote site

Tahltan Nation Development Corporation (TNDC) is hiring a Health & Safety Administrator. A Health & Safety Administrator will provide administrative support to our HSE Coordinators and site HSE Superintendent with data entry, organization, maintenance of safety records and compiling safety data for various reports. The work is at a remote location in a camp setting on a 2 week on/2 week off rotation, working 12-hour shifts. 

The successful candidate will be a key player in a highly progressive and motivated team who will possess a positive attitude, make safety a priority and be a good ambassador for TNDC.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the site HSE Superintendent or designate, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • perform data entry and assist in the compilation of data for various reports.
  • locating digital and hard copy filed materials upon request.
  • maintaining a high level of confidentiality in all interactions.
  • organize, maintain, digitize and coordinate records and files.
  • present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with all stakeholders.
  • assist with administrative tasks as required by the Safety Coordinators and Leadership.

 Qualifications and experience

  • minimum 2+ years’ experience in an administrative role, preferably in the construction industry.

Information Technology (IT) Manager

The IT Manager will ensure that technology is identified, invested in, leveraged, and supported in alignment with TNDC’s strategic plan. In response to the strategic plan, and in partnership with the Senior Management Team, develop, update, and implement the IT Strategy. The IT Manager will be responsible for ensuring continuity of service for all IT investments.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), responsibilities include, but not limited to:

A. IT Strategy, Planning and Project Management

  • participate in the development of long-term strategic plans for acquiring and enabling efficient and cost-effective information and communication technologies and solutions
  • align IT objectives, projects, initiatives, and goals to meet the business’s objectives and goals
  • monitor and analyze trends in technology and to make recommendations for the future and to identify areas of increased efficiency or cost savings
  • ensure the efficient utilization of technical resources – including personnel / contractors and equipment across the organization
  • approve, prioritize, and control projects and the project portfolio as they relate to the selection, acquisition, development, and installation of major information systems
  • define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
  • effectively communicate project status(es) to sponsors and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • manage projects to ensure that timelines, budgets, and outcomes are achieved

B. Operational Management

  • oversee and be responsible for all IT functions
  • work with the CFO on setting budgetary requirements and prioritizing IT capital expenditures

  • review and manage major contracts for computing and information technology services and equipment
  • ensure continuous delivery of technical services through monitoring of systems, programs, and equipment performance
  • manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals
  • oversee the development, implementation and administration of both network and end-user technical support services
  • implement and maintain an asset management system for IT hardware, software, and equipment
  • coordinate and facilitate consultation with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations
  • conduct feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions
  • define hardware and software standards in conjunction with stakeholders
  • define network performance standards and provide network performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining network infrastructure
  • define and provide server performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining server infrastructure
  • manage operational costs; conduct near- and long-term financial forecasts for expanded functionality/user base
  • track and maintain copies of software licenses, warranties, maintenance agreements, and vendor contracts

  • ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with TNDC’s health and safety program requirements

C. Policy and Procedures

  • develop and implement IT Governance best practices and standards
  • working with the Senior Management Team, define and communicate policies and processes for
  • acquiring, implementing, and operating IT systems
  • working with the Senior Management Team, enforce policies and procedures to ensure the protection of IT assets and the integrity, security, and privacy of corporate information
  • continually review and update policies and procedures to align with the business needs and goals

D. Contractor and Vendor Management

  • identify, source, and oversee contractors when they are required to ensure operational effectiveness or for project implementation
  • ensure any 3ʳᵈ party contractors are educated about safety requirements, and compliant with all safety regulations
  • monitor product and service contract performance for compliance with organizational needs and requirements, including follow-up checks for corrective action
  • develop, establish, implement, and enforce supplier and outsourcer guidelines, obligations, and service level agreements to the organization
  • monitor licenses for compliance with organizational needs and requirements, including follow-up checks for corrective action, develop long term licensing strategies
  • develop and deliver license reports, bid proposals, requirements documentation, and tender documents when required

E. Other related duties as required by the organization

Qualifications and experience

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or similar combination of education and technical certification/vocational or technical training
  • at least three years’ experience working in an IT supervisory role where there was responsibility for budgets, projects, and contractors
  • Project Management designation or certification is an asset
  • experience with data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems
  • good understanding of computer systems characteristics, features, and integration capabilities
  • experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management
  • proven experience in IT planning, organization, and development
  • demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems

Working Conditions

Work is primarily carried out in an office environment; however, a portion of the time is working out at various remote sites, which may be a mixture of indoors and outdoors. Regular requirement to meet critical deadlines can cause stress. Overtime may be required to ensure timely handling of IT issues. The CFO is available to provide direction and to resolve any conflicts the IT Manager may encounter.

Mine Site - Project Coordinator

TNDC is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Mine Site - Project Coordinator at our Red Chris mine job site in northern British Columbia, approximately 100 kilometers south of Dease Lake. The work is in a remote camp setting and shift rotation is 14 days on and 14 days off, working 12 hours per day. The successful candidate will be a key player in a highly progressive and motivated team.

Responsibilities

  • Aid with critical task procedures and safe work practices
  • Interface with client department managers to identify upcoming customer projects
  • Perform workface planning and schedule for work requirements and aid with task planning and scheduling
  • Coordinate with TNDC fleet / TNDC supervision to ensure tools, equipment and materials are available to complete task assignments
  • Monitoring and documenting of ongoing construction activities, quantities, and processes to produce daily, weekly, and monthly production reporting and planning to ensure milestones are met
  • Validate client provided project budgets and resource requirements
  • Aid in the preparation of the daily change order system and RFI process
  • Analyze all daily construction activities to coordinate short, and long-term construction plans with the project manager

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mining; preference is given to experience with tailings dam construction and or underground mining
  • Professional Engineering designation in British Columbia is an asset
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with attention to detail

Heavy Duty Mechanic – Dease Lake

TNDC is seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our dynamic team. This position is located at the Dease Lake shop within the TNDC Mechanical division. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with the expectation there will be overtime and on-call requirements.

TNDC’s mechanical division is responsible for the preventative maintenance and major repairs to mobile (heavy and light duty), auxiliary and stationary mining equipment, while continuously aligning daily functions. In addition, this position is responsible for the Airport Services equipment and all field based mechanical needs within the Telegraph Creek, Iskut and Dease Lake area. The successful candidate must be committed to safe working practices.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Fleet Manager with a dual reporting line to the site supervisor or designate, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • inspecting equipment, troubleshooting, and planning sequence of repair operations
  • investigating deficiencies and equipment malfunctions
  • following maintenance procedures to ensure all equipment meets specifications
  • cleaning, lubricating, and performing other routine maintenance work on equipment
  • servicing attachments and working tools as required
  • ensuring proper reporting, documentation, and clear lines of communication with supervisors

Qualifications and experience

  • Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic/Technician Interprovincial (Red Seal) Certification (or related discipline) preferred

TNDC in partnership with Sodexo is recruiting for personnel at our Eskay Creek Mine and Newcrest Red Chris Mine jobsites located in northwestern BC.

We are seeking applicants for the following positions:

  • valid Food Safe Certificate, WHMIS Certification and OFA Certification preferred
  • valid drivers license preferred, but not required for all positions
  • proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required, depending on jobsite
