Description:

Reporting to the CEO, the HSE Director role is to work in cooperation with project management to achieve safety related goals and objectives and ensure a safe working environment.  Act as a coach/mentor/facilitator to assist management in fulfilling their safety related responsibilities.  Assist with the development and implement of the project safety plan.  Conduct inspections and incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are completed.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with Project Manager daily to foster, promote and develop a positive safety culture

Parts / Warehouse Officer

TNDC is looking to fill a Permanent Full Time Parts / Warehouse Officer to join the team. The Parts / Warehouse Officer is responsible for general warehouse duties including picking and packing orders, loading of parts trucks, verifying bills of lading, shipping orders to meet strict deadlines and warehouse racking dismantling and reassembling.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Equipment Fleet Manager or designate, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • picking and stocking parts
  • shipping and receiving
  • loading and unloading the parts trucks
  • other general warehouse duties
  • picking customer and branch parts orders
  • packing and labeling parts orders for shipment

Construction Manager

Description:

The Construction Manager is the company representative who has the primary responsibility for all field operations from initial project planning to completion. The incumbent is responsible for all project activities including the supervision of self-performed and subcontracted construction work. They share responsibility with the Site Management Team for developing the project budget, management of activities in the preconstruction phase and ensuring the project is built on time, within budget, and according to company policies and procedures. The Construction Manager is proactive with respect to risk and opportunity and occupies a clearly recognized leadership role between senior management and field forces. A true carrier of culture with responsibility for ensuring field supervision and specialists are properly assigned, safe and productive, they oversee and mentor site managers, superintendents, foremen and all other field personnel within their sector/region/area of responsibility.

Authority:

  • Requisition personnel for an assigned project within company guidelines and standards.
  • Requisition services, material, supplies, tools, and equipment for an assigned project within company guidelines, standards, and/or prepared budgets.
  • Recommend promotion, demotion, or transfer of a reporting employee.
  • Recommend pay adjustments for reporting employees.
  • Recommend suspension or dismissal of a reporting employee or subcontractor.
  • Discipline a reporting employee with input from Human Resources
  • Stop work should safety be compromised.
  • Recommend and advise the site management team and client of additions and deletions to scope of work for assigned projects.
  • Prepare estimates of quantities of Labor, Material, and Equipment for clients

Reporting Relationship:

  • Reports to the Vice President of Construction
  • Manages all assigned Site Managers, Superintendents, General Foreman, Trade Foreman, employees, and subcontractors

Responsibilities

Reporting to the VP of Construction or designate, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Day to day management of multiple construction site(s) while ensuring the alignment of best practices for safety, quality, and execution.
  • Engages in broader decision-making processes, potentially including policy considerations.
  • Provides day to day direction, guidance and counsel to the site managers and superintendents in the accomplishment of their operational goals & objectives.
  • Manages client relationships, internal relationships, complex negotiations of contracts, sub-contracts, labour, change management, etc.
  • Reviews project progress results and compares them to established objectives and initiates appropriate & timely measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.
  • Evaluates current and projected workflow on all projects and initiates re-allocation of department personnel to assist in other projects where required.
  • Manages client relationships, often developed over multiple projects or portfolios, and improves (or even repairs) existing relationships.
  • Participates in external client facing events and activities with a mind to building future opportunities.
  • Proactively leads and motivates key direct reports to achieve and exceed project profitability, completion schedule and productivity goals and objectives.
  • Ensure daily verification that safety requirements and commitments are met.
  • Verify that the disciplines are executing the work that has been planned.
  • Spend time in the field to verify work is being executed with quality and timely.
  • Meets with each site manager/superintendent to conduct monthly (or more frequently) job cost/progress meetings to ensure results are being achieved or remedial actions are developed
  • Check safety routes to ensure that they are relevant and that problems are resolved.
  • Attend and present the progress of construction work at management and owner meetings.
  • Review the report on costs, projections, and financial plans.
  • Emphasizes & monitors safety performance and obligations on all projects – personally reviews and reports on all safety incidents or infractions.
  • Provides leadership for the development of a “safety culture” for all field activities

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or technical diploma with 8 to 12 years of experience as a construction manager
  • Experience in the construction of large-scale industrial/mining projects
  • Ability to develop and implement plans to achieve project milestones and minimize project or component costs.
  • Able to make recommendations, take action, and make proactive decisions based on strong technical proficiency and significant business experience/acumen. Takes forward-looking view of future team development and growth.
  • Excellent stakeholder management is required and can establish partnership with field management, + external written correspondence on behalf of TNDC. Able to report effectively to business unit leaders.
  • Expert knowledge of construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, procedures, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Knowledge of contingency planning.
  • Can interpret contract documents to mitigate risk and plan work effectively.
  • Expert subtrade management skills.
  • Experienced in litigation/claims management is an asset, but not a requirement.
  • Excellent English verbal/written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Familiar with Projects in the following sectors.

The Senior Planner / Project Controls Specialist will have overall responsibility for the administration of Program Level Project Controls and Initiatives. The Senior Planner / Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for fostering a proactive culture of communication, continuous improvement, and focus on growth and profitability.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the VP of Construction or designate, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and management to produce valuable presentations to submit to leadership which will include financial reports, cash flow, forecast data, and schedule variances for multiple large projects.
  • Analyzes and evaluates schedule management involving the critical path method scheduling techniques, estimating, project cost management, forecasting and document control.
  • Manage development of multi-project level schedules. Review, coach and mentor the project schedulers through training, hands-on workshops, and job aids to deliver the highest level of service and best practices.
  • Responsible for delivering and overseeing corporate initiatives to achieve all project controls requirements.
  • Create project cost estimates and proposals based on project complexity, scope and life cycle stage. Support the Construction Management Team in the development of project specific cost and schedule activities for inclusion into the Project/JV Team Proposals. Adhere to approved PO budgets, while establishing cost control methods such as forecasting ETC, EAC and creating early indicators of cost overruns to allow corrective action.
  • Responsible for overseeing the development of the Annual Capital Expenditure Forecast and Annual Budgets.
  • Provide timely Schedule Performance Index (SPI) reports in conjunction with project input to measure progress achieved compared to progress planned. Provide timely Cost Performance Index (CPI) reports in conjunction with project input to measure the earned value compared to actual cost
  • Review and report performance using variance analysis, trend analysis, and earned value performance to evaluate the cost and schedule performance over time
  • Participate in the project meetings to provide updates on cost, scheduling and project controls related activities to ensure proper services and expectations are being met and delivered.
  • Customize project control systems to meet specific program requirements. Develop and document process improvements or changes in project controls methods. I.E Update or create manuals, Job Aids, etc.
  • Train, orient, and onboard new staff with the company culture, client culture, work policies, procedures and expectations and project standards and processes.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field. Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Must have field experience in order to facilitate and produce detailed construction schedules and interface those construction schedules with engineering and procurement activities.
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct project controls and consulting experience.
  • Prior experience with critical path scheduling, project cost management, estimating, and document control required.
  • Ability to work independently, think creatively and analytically, and make quick and sound decisions.
  • Ability to influence and lead thoughtfully and positively.
  • Effective time management to balance project work and ad-hoc requests from the client and internal stakeholders in addition to day-to-day duties.
  • Excellent planning and analytical skills.
  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
  • Expert knowledge of project management methodologies and tools including the use of Microsoft Office, Oracle Primavera P6, and Earned Value Management system.

The work is in a remote camp setting and shift rotation is 14 days on and 14 days off. The normal shifts are 12 hours. The successful candidate will be a key player in a highly progressive and motivated team who will lead by example, possess a positive attitude and be a good ambassador for TNDC.

The work is at a remote location in a camp setting, the regular shift for this position is 14 days on and 14 days off, with 10-hour workdays. Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Reporting to the site HSE Superintendent or designate, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • perform data entry and assist in the compilation of data for various reports.

  • organize, maintain, digitize and coordinate records and files.

Qualifications and experience

  • minimum 2+years’ experience in an administrative role, preferably in the construction industry.

Heavy Duty Mechanic – Dease Lake

TNDC is seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our dynamic team. This position is located at the Dease Lake shop within the TNDC Mechanical division. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with the expectation there will be overtime and on-call requirements.

TNDC’s mechanical division is responsible for the preventative maintenance and major repairs to mobile (heavy and light duty), auxiliary and stationary mining equipment, while continuously aligning daily functions. In addition, this position is responsible for the Airport Services equipment and all field based mechanical needs within the Telegraph Creek, Iskut and Dease Lake area. The successful candidate must be committed to safe working practices.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Fleet Manager with a dual reporting line to the site supervisor or designate, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • inspecting equipment, troubleshooting, and planning sequence of repair operations
  • investigating deficiencies and equipment malfunctions
  • following maintenance procedures to ensure all equipment meets specifications
  • cleaning, lubricating, and performing other routine maintenance work on equipment
  • servicing attachments and working tools as required
  • ensuring proper reporting, documentation, and clear lines of communication with supervisors

Qualifications and experience
