Transportation & Logistics

TNDC has been at the forefront of road construction, enhancements, maintenance and upgrades, supporting vital transportation corridors and industry infrastructure in Northwest British Columbia.

TNDC’s road construction and maintenance expertise spans upgrades for highways, access and forest service roads, right of ways, and bridge replacement for industry, municipal and provincial governments. Our work on Dease Lake Airport upgrades have improved safety, economic efficiency, and logistical access for our communities and partners.

Collaboration

TNDC recently collaborated with partners to secure a $195 million investment for highway upgrades in Tahltan Territory, enhancing road safety, reliability, and access to services for local communities and critical minerals development.

Emergency Fire Services

In collaboration with Newmont, TNDC has received training to offer emergency fire services at the Dease Lake Airport. An on-site first responder truck and a compressed air foam (CAFS) vehicle are ready to swiftly respond to any potential aircraft emergency.

Regional Fuel Operations

TNDC’s Jet A fuel operations at the Dease Lake Airport supports medical evacuations, workforce transportation flights for the mining sector, firefighting and other chartered aircraft, providing a dedicated fuel source.

TNDC’s 100LL fuel operations serve small general aviation traffic visiting and passing through the Territory to Yukon and Alaska, on behalf of Stikine Airport Society.

Aviation Services History

Our Aviation Services has become an increasingly strategic and important area of TNDC’s business. Launched in 2020, TNDC has taken the lead on improving this vital community infrastructure to better serve health, medevac flights, emergency responders, industry and in future, residents.

Dease Lake Airport is now a significantly enhanced airport facility with year-round, 24/7 operational capabilities. We have significantly reduced medevac times, from 20.5 hours to 5.3. In addition, we have improved air access to Dease Lake and the surrounding communities, for mineral exploration, mine development, mining and industrial sectors; as well as improving wildfire suppression and emergency response capabilities.

In 2023, TNDC partnered with Executive Flight Services to provide onsite leadership with oversight and development of the airport and TNDC crews.
