TNDC’s 2016 Community Christmas Party a Festive Success

Holiday cheer was in the Dease Lake air on Saturday, December 10, 2016. Community members from Iskut to Telegraph Creek to Watson Lake and as far away Smithers and Kitimat got an early visit from Santa for an afternoon of festive fun at TNDC’s 18th annual Christmas party. More than 350 children and adults turned out to kick off the holiday season. This year’s theme was ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’.

Hosting with support
This annual event brings tremendous delight to children and families living in our remote communities. TNDC takes pride in hosting this event each year providing food, games, prizes and pictures with Santa. But the success of the party relies on the generosity of our suppliers, clients and business partners, and local organizations who contribute funds and donate gifts, as well as TNDC staff who make it happen and others who assist with set up and implementation.

Supporting through participation
Our gratitude to the Tahltan Health and Social Services Authority (THSSA) for providing the food, which enabled TNDC to focus on beverages and snacks. Thanks also to staff from the Tahltan Central Government and THSSA who helped with advance prep and on the day, and Red Chris Mine for sending two managers who helped out with activities throughout the day.

Supporting through contributions
A highlight of the annual party is a ‘Game Show’ format. We reached out to our clients, industry and partners to help sponsor the prizes and share our gratitude to those who answered the call. We extend a special thank you to our first-ever Gold Corporate Sponsors – Pacific Coastal Airlines (PCA) and Red Chris Mine, for each donating more than $3,000. PCA also sponsored $1,200 to cover the prizes for the 0-4 age group.

Receiving through giving
In the spirit of giving and compassion, we asked everyone who attended to donate a non-perishable item to the Tahltan Food Bank. We are delighted to have collected three large boxes of food items, which were gratefully received by the bank and will benefit members of the local communities.

Expressing our gratitude
On behalf of the TNDC team, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has donated time, funds and gifts in the past and continues to support this special event. Your contribution helps to make it meaningful and memorable for our local communities.
