TNDC COMMEMORATES THE 113TH ANNIVERSARY OF TAHLTAN DAY

Today, October 18th, is an important and historical day for the Tahltan Nation. Tahltan Day commemorates the anniversary of the signing of the 1910 Declaration of the Tahltan Tribe and celebrates Tahltan culture, tradition, language, resiliency and independence. Tahltan Nation Development Corporation (TNDC), the business arm of the Tahltan Nation, and Solvest, a leading provider of renewable energy solutions, are pleased to announce their strategic partnership aimed at advancing sustainable and clean energy initiatives in Tahltan Territory.  Further, TNDC and Solvest are pleased to announce their first power project installation will be at the Schaft Creek Copper-Gold-Molybdenum-Silver Project located in NW British Columbia in Tahltan Territory which is owned by the Schaft Creek Joint Venture (SCJV) and operated by Teck Resources Limited (Teck) with a 75% interest and Copper Fox Metals Inc. with a 25% interest.

GROWING TAHLTAN TALENT THROUGH MENTORING

Gavin Day’s recent promotion to Heavy Equipment Operator Trainer is an exciting step up the career ladder. He began his career with TNDC in February 2020 as a labourer at the Coast Mountain Hydro project. Thanks to TNDC’s on-the-job training, Gavin quickly moved up to operating heavy equipment with TNDC’s Red Chris TIA team. He began on a packer and rock truck, and then moved to a skidsteer, loader and excavator.

REMEMBERING CANADA’S LOST INDIGENOUS CHILDREN AND SURVIVORS OF RESIDENTIAL SCHOOLS

September 30th marks two important days in Canada – National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day – which recognize the harm inflicted on Canada’s Indigenous people from the horrific residential school system legacy. To further honour this solemn day, we are inviting TNDC team members to understand the tragic legacy of Canada’s residential schools and to wear symbolic orange shirts in remembrance of the lost children and survivors, We are providing orange shirts designed by Tahltan artist Huey Carlick – Turtle Island shares the message Every Child Matters.

Working as a shop labourer this summer in TNDC’s Dease Lake Mechanical Shop has been an enlightening experience for Keenan Joseph. In addition to cleaning the shop and assisting the mechanical team, Keenan has been learning about welding – introducing him to a new career.

TAHLTAN NATION DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION TAKES OVER FUEL SERVICE OPERATIONS AT DEASE LAKE AIRPORT

Dease Lake, B.C.: Tahltan Nation Development Corporation (TNDC) is pleased to announce it is now the fuel service provider at the Dease Lake Airport (CYDL). Serving up to 25 aircraft weekly, TNDC’s fuel operations at CYDL will support medical evacuations, crew changes at the Red Chris mine, firefighting, and allow private aircraft a dedicated fuel source.
