TNDC President recognized for vision and leadership in fostering Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal business relationships

Vancouver, BC/July 29, 2013: PR Associates (National) Communications, a national public relations and communications agency, congratulates Bill Adsit, president and chief executive officer of the Tahltan Nation Development Corporation (TNDC) on his award for Aboriginal Business Visionary from the Industry Council for Aboriginal Business (ICAB). Bill was recognized for his leadership and contributions in fostering business between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal business in his work with TNDC and supporting other First Nations in capitalizing on economic opportunities. The 2013 ICAB Recognition Awards were presented at a special event on Thursday evening, July 26, 2013 in Vancouver.

The ICAB Recognition Awards honour the vision, achievement and success of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal individuals and corporations that have demonstrated leadership and commitment in developing Aboriginal/non-Aboriginal business relationships, and driving lasting, positive change. The Aboriginal Business Visionary category recognizes an Aboriginal individual who exemplifies leadership and best practices in Aboriginal/non-Aboriginal engagement and business relationship development.

Bill has long believed that Aboriginal people could have control over the way natural resources are developed on their land– ensuring its sustainability while creating lasting economic independence. He operates on the belief that all Aboriginal people should have the opportunity to participate in and prosper from the management of their resources, and actively reaches out to support other Nations in their efforts.

“Bill Adsit is a true visionary and a leader. Throughout his life and career, Bill has fused his passion for his people, his interest in helping others succeed and his business acumen into a philosophy that creates change and improves lives,” said Robert Simpson, president and chief executive officer of PR Associates.

“He has readily shared his knowledge to build capacity among First Nations and create economic opportunities where Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people prosper together.”

His vision is behind the more than 20 joint venture partnerships and business ventures he has established at TNDC, the business arm of the Tahltan Nation in Northwestern British Columbia, with a range of service providers, including PR Associates. Tahltan National PR Communications provides public relation services to corporations, organizations and individuals.

“I am truly honoured to be recognized for this award. Sharing knowledge to build capacity among First Nations and creating economic opportunities where Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people prosper together are business principles I live by,” said Bill. “But it cannot be done alone. No one makes progress in life without help from friends. Doing business should be about developing relationships and establishing friendships.”
